    • 1). Unscrew the Poulan Weed Eater's gas cap. Tilt the engine and pour all the remaining fuel into a fuel container. Drain all old or bad gas from the tank. Refill the tank with freshly mixed Weed Eater fuel.

    • 2). Unhook the tabs holding the air filter cover over the air filter box. Pull out the foam air filter pad. Wash the pad in the warm, soapy water. Rinse it under cool water afterward and let it stand for several hours to dry.

    • 3). Start the Poulan Weed Eater's engine. Squeeze the throttle lightly for one minute to let it warm up. Locate the idle adjusting screw, which on Poulan Weed Eaters will be located between the air filter box and the engine, directly on the carburetor.

    • 4). Insert the screwdriver onto the screw and turn it in clockwise slowly until the head starts moving. Stop turning the screw immediately and turn it back counterclockwise until the head stops spinning. Move the screw in between these two points to find the highest maximum idle speed before the head starts moving.
