Seven Special Locations For Anna Maria Island Sunets
Anna Maria Island has been a favorite spot for a Florida beach vacation for more than one hundred years.
Watching the sun settle in for the night can be a magical experience.
Here are great locations for AMI sunsets:
First is Bean Point of Bean. Bean Point is located at the northernmost point of the island and named in honor of the first settler on Anna Maria Island, George Bean. Bean Point offers breathtaking views in all directions. To the west Tampa Bay and the east is the Gulf of Mexico and a big beautiful sky filled with clouds and beautiful shades of reds and blues.
Second is Coquina Beach at the southern tip of the island. It has big parking lots and massive beaches. Coquina is a great place to see water in blues and greens like no where else.
Third is on a sunset sail. Sunset from a sailboat is a more spiritual experience. At sea, the sun reflects light across the sky and the surrounding waters. Spice Charter and Anna Maria Sailing and Boat Charters are both great options
Fourth on the list is Cortez Beach. There is no more docks on the Gulf side of Anna Maria Island. However, there are three rock groins (erosion piers) coming off of Cortez Beach towards the south of the island. Although these are not safe for standing or sitting, they do attract many pelicans and gulls, which are particularly majestic flying in front of the sun.
A fifth option is Sandbar Restaurant or Beach House Restaurant. Either is a great place to get a drink and enjoy the evening. The restaurants Sandbar and Beach House both have a great drink offers for sunset and the best seats to watch the final moments of the day.
Lastly is is Manatee County Beach, one of the busiest on AMI. Parking is located at the intersection of Highway 64 and U.S. Gulf Dr. Manatee Beach is where most traffic on the beach intersects.
