We love taking pictures when we are in a new place or when there are special occasions.
Admit it or not, a lot of times the picture we take does not come out the way you want it.
Portrait pictures most especially is a bit tricky, you just can get the look or smile you want from the subject.
So here are some tips to create that perfect portrait.
You have to make your subject feel good.
How to do that? You should be relaxed and extra friendly, your subject will pick up on this and they will feel good.
Make your subject feel comfortable.
Tell them how you plan to take their pictures.
If it is possible walk them through the steps one by one, explain things that they do not fully understand.
Talk to them, show interest.
Ask them what they like doing, make them feel like you are a friend.
As you converse with them and they feel more comfortable they show their smile, the natural smile.
And that is your chance to shoot a nice picture, keep making them comfortable and let them smile naturally while shooting their picture; the natural smile is always the best smile.
At first when the flash goes off your subject may feel a bit awkward or surprised, thinking she has been caught off guard, but just focus.
Interaction is the key.
Your conversion will drown the tension and your subject will get used to the constant flash of light.
Just make sure that you talk about nice things and choose a subject that is not too serious.
You want the subject to be comfortable not tensed.
Some people think that taking photos of couples are a lot easier since they will be more confident and they have each other to be comfortable with.
They may even be caught laughing at the stories they will be sharing to you, just be prepared to shoot the moment they start being relaxed.
When they share the same state of comfort and they start laughing and smiling from their heart, take the shot, it will be one photo they will always cherish.
Capturing that perfect moment of bonding beats all other pictures they have.
One good thing to have during photo shoots is the right equipment, also choose a place or venue where your subject or subjects feels comfortable or has good vibrations.
You can take their pictures on a park where they meet, on the bridge, or on their home.
The key is that it should be a place that they feel a connection with and feels comfortable to have their picture taken.
In photography you should remember that any photographer can take a good picture, but a good and professional photographer can capture not just the physical image but the feeling of the subjects.
So be the professional photographer, imagine yourself as a fairy godmother or fairy god father that will immortalize the loving moments of a couple or immortalize a child's perfect smile.
