After recovering from Hurricane Katrina's devastating effects, Gulfport, Mississippi is once again a popular tourist destination because of its many casinos and beaches. There are three airports in the Gulfport area. - The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is the busiest airport in southern Mississippi, with two runways that service around 900,000 passengers a year. Part of Gulfport's traffic is military from nearby Keesler Air Force Base. Most of Gulfport's passenger traffic is for regional airlines or the smaller commuter airlines of the major carriers, including American Eagle, Continental Express, US Airways Express and Delta Connection. Delta's main airline flies into Gulfport with connections to Atlanta.
