Dog Treats From Home
Many dog owners like to pamper their dogs with homemade dog treats.
If you are like many other dog owners, you love to reward your little pup when they behave properly or learn a new trick.
The cost of pet treats from the store can add up fast, and they aren't always healthy for your dog.
Here are some dog treat recipes you can make at home: Parmesan Herb Treats 1 Pkg.
Dry Yeast ¼ C.
Lukewarm water 2 C.
Chicken stock 2 T.
Olive Oil ½ C.
Parmesan Cheese ½ C.
Non-fat Dry milk 2 T.
Dried parsley 1 tsp.
Oregano 1 C.
Whole wheat flour ½ C.
Rye Flour ½ C.
Rice Flour 1 C.
Cracked Wheat For the glaze - 1 Egg, 1 T.
Milk Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
Add chicken stock, oil, cheese, dry milk, and herbs.
Slowly blend in the flours and cracked wheat.
Add enough wheat flour to form a stiff dough.
Transfer dough to a floured cutting board and knead dough until smooth.
Shape the dough into a ball and roll until it is ½ inch thick.
Use cookie cutters to cut out treats.
Place treats on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them ¼ inch apart.
Bake treats in oven for 45 minutes.
Remove treats from oven and brush treats with glaze, turn and brush the other side.
Bake treats for another 30 minutes and allow them to cool overnight.
This recipe yields about 4 dozen treats.
Apple Cinnamon Drops Ingredients: 1 Large apple ¼ C.
Honey 1 C.
Oatmeal ½ C.
Water ½ tsp.
Cinnamon 1 ½ C.
Whole wheat flour 1/8 C.
Whole wheat flour Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Core, slice and mince the apple.
In a large bowl, combine the minced apple, honey, water, cinnamon, and oatmeal.
Slowly blend in the wheat flour, adding just enough to form a stiff dough.
In a smaller bowl, add 1/8 C.
wheat flour.
Spoon the dough by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
Use the bottom of a glass dipped in wheat flour to prevent sticking, flatten each spoonful of dough into a circle.
Adjust the size of the drops for your dog's preference.
Bake treats for 30 minutes.
Remove treats from oven and flip to cook on other side.
Reduce oven temperature to 325 degree.
Return treats to oven and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
Allow treats to cool overnight.

Poofy Doggy Drops Ingredients: 1 pkg.
dry yeast ¼ C.
Warm water 1 ½ C.
whole wheat flour 1 C.
flour 1 pkg.
unflavored gelatin 1 C.
dry milk powder ¼ C.
corn oil 1 egg 6 oz pet food, (canned) ¼ C.
water Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Dissolve yeast in ¼ C.
warm water.
Mix all the dry ingredients together.
Slowly add the rest of the ingredients.
Drop dough by level half-teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 25 minutes.
Leave cookies in overnight to dry and allow them to cool.
Store cookies in an airtight container.
Surprise Snacks Ingredients: ¼ C.
hot water 8 each chicken or beef bouillon -- cubes 1 package dry yeast 1 ½ C.
tomato juice 2 C.
flour, divided 2 C.
wheat germ 1 ½ C.
whole wheat flour Combine hot water and bouillon cubes in a large mixing bowl and mash with a fork.
Sprinkle yeast over the mixture and allow to stand for 5 minutes or until the yeast dissolves.
Add the tomato juice, half the flour and the wheat germ and stir to form a smooth batter.
Slowly work in the remaining flour and the whole wheat flour with your hands.
Divide the dough into 4 balls.
Roll each ball out on a floured board to about ¼ inch thick.
Cut the dough into shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets about an inch apart.
Bake at 325 for one hour, then turn off oven and let biscuits cool in oven for 4 hours.
Store biscuits in an airtight container.
