Snoring is very common sleep disorder.
It affects 25 percent of women, and 40 percent of men.
Older people and overweight people are more likely to snore.
Even though it is so common, it can still cause some serious problems.
Snoring happens when the passageway between your nose and your throat become smaller.
When you inhale, the air has to move faster down the passageway, which causes some vibrations, which in turn make you snore.
Some of the things that may cause you to snore include, using drugs or alcohol, smoking, asthma, or even just having a cold.
You can try a few simple stop snoring exercises including facial exercises and voice exercises.
Some tips to help you stop snoring include propping your upper body up on some pillows and lying on your side.
This allows more air to get through the passageway between your nose and throat.
Sleeping on your back may cause you to snore more frequently.
Some people have tried sewing a tennis ball to the back of their shirt when they go to bed.
This may sound funny, but it does work in getting you to sleep on your side because it would be uncomfortable to sleep on your back on top of a tennis ball.
If you are overweight, you may want to lose weight.
Having extra body fat, especially if it is around the neck, can put some pressure on your nasal airway, making it smaller.
You may want to try and not eat dairy products before you go to bed because this can cause extra mucus to build up.
Many people simply use a humidifier while going to sleep.
This can reduce any congestion you may have.
You can also buy some nasal strips from your local pharmacy.
These sticky strips are placed across your nose to hold it open.
There are many different ways on how to stop snoring.
If you have tried some of these tips and are still snoring, you may want to talk to your doctor, especially if you are getting irritable or depressed, losing your concentration, or falling asleep during the day when you should be awake.
Getting better rest at night will put you on the road to a healthier and happy life.
