- 1). Log on to the Internet. An Internet connection is required for updating the device's latest drivers, and for using the VoIP service.
- 2). Plug the phone cord into your landline phone, and then into the phone jack on the MagicJack. Plug the phone's AC cable into the phone, and then into an available power outlet.
- 3). Plug the USB extension cable onto the MagicJack's USB plug, and then into your computer. This step is optional, and not required for the device to operate properly. Plug the MagicJack's USB plug directly into your computer's USB port if you do not want to use the extension cable.
- 4). Wait for the drivers and software to be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer. Enter your area code when prompted by the on-screen instructions. The MagicJack user interface will appear, and your number will be displayed at the top of the screen. A dial tone will be heard when you pick up your landline phone, and the device will be ready for use.
