Top 5 Ways To Keep Your Teeth Healthy!
1. Not every toothbrush is the same
Don't settle for your crummy old toothbrush. There is a plethora of toothbrushes available that are more suitable to the task! Go look at your toothbrush right now and tell me it's the best. Is it? I doubt it. There are many options you can go with. From toothbrushes that are for sensitive gums to hard brushes best for other purposes.
You can also choose to have a non-electric brush, which is usually much cheaper, and an electric toothbrush which will brush your teeth faster. There is also a middle-method which includes vibrating toothbrushes that help you get into those tight spots. Test them all out, see what works best for you!
2. Keep your toothbrush for 4 months MAX!
Change your toothbrush on a regular basis, 4 months being the maximum. Food particles and bacteria may add up and get stuck, and you won't be able to get those out. There is no way around this, unfortunately.
Electric toothbrushes have the advantage of being able to purchase interchangeable brushes so keep that in mind next time you go shopping.
3. Flossing sucks, but it's the best!
"Flossing" is the long running joke. It's the habit no one has but that's so crucial to your dental health that it CANNOT be ignored. Before you go to sleep, and brush your teeth for the last time in the day, grab some floss and run it between your teeth.
As the commercial says, you'll be left with a "good clean feeling!". Food gets stuck everywhere and floss gets to places that no toothbrush has ventured into before.
4. Healthy Diet!
Keep a healthy diet full of vitamin-rich fruits, and calcium-rich milk. Keep clear of sugar drinks because those will rot your teeth way. Sugar drinks have a habit of making your teeth disappear and making your life harder. It's not joke when dentists warn you about these!
5. Dentist Visits
Get your calendar out right now and look up when you're suppose to see your dentist. Got it? Now click on it, or just write it down, and make sure to remind yourself every 6 months to go. Actually, many offices today will already pre-schedule a reminder to let you know that you should see your dentist.
Why? Dentists not only give you a general check up of your dental health, they will also give you suggestions on improving it and clean your teeth! Brushing your teeth and flossing your teeth is essential but there are some things that only a dentist can do.
