The ebook Revolution

The publishing industry is rapidly changing.
Never before have there been so many opportunities for independent authors.
Just in the last few years, many e-reading devices have been brought to market.
Of these devices, some of the most popular include Amazon's Kindle, Barnes and Noble's Nook, the various Sony Readers and the iBook feature on the Apple iPad.
Recently, e-reading on mobile phones has also gained in popularity.
Consumers can now read ebooks on the iPhone (through the Stanza application) and on Android powered smart phones (through the Aldiko application).
Surprisingly, reading an eBook on a mobile phone is quite a pleasant experience.
Typically, mobile phone e-reading applications allow for plenty of customization of the reading experience.
For example, the Aldiko application allows the reader to change the color of the background or text.
You can also change the font type or size.
I believe e-reading on mobile phones will become more and more popular as the technology continues to evolve.
I'm very excited about the potential of ebooks and digital publishing.
Indie authors can take part of this movement by publishing their works in eBook form.
Today, there are many options available to help authors publish in the digital format.
Authors can make their work available in the Kindle store by publishing directly with Amazon.
Authors can also partner with companies such as Smashwords and have their work converted into several different eBook formats.
The future is bright for digital publishing.
Ebooks have reached the tipping point.
Get in the game.
