How to Decorate a Guest Table Using a Chafing Pan as a Centerpiece
- 1). Use a table runner that goes lengthwise from one end of the table to the other. This provides a place on which the chafing pan can sit, along with a border for other decorations.
- 2). Cover the area on the table runner where the chafing pan will go with decorative stones or pebbles to add a fireproof splash of color and texture. Put the pan on top of the stones and arrange them so they cascade out from underneath the rack.
- 3). Fill in the area on either side of the chafing pan with low-lying decorations. Because the chafing pan is high, it may interfere with people's ability to see across the table. Sticking to decorations with low height eliminates this issue on other sections of the table. Ideas include candle trays with votive or other short candles, sprinklings of flower petals, or baskets of fruit, bread and other edible items. Make each side the same for a symmetrical look or use different decorations on each side for variety.
- 4). Stick to a similar color scheme with the decorations around the chafing pan. As most chafing pans are silver, avoid clashing colors such as gold or other metallic finishes.
