How to Resurface a Cracked Concrete Driveway
- 1). Clean out the cracks you intend to repair, to remove organic material. Make sure the cracks are dry before proceeding.
- 2). Insert a tube of of concrete-repair caulk into a caulking gun and apply a thick bead of the caulk into cracks larger than 1/2 inch wide.
- 3). Smooth over the caulk with a putty knife.
- 4). Pour a 20-pound bag of concrete resurfacer and 2 1/2 quarts of water into a 5-gallon bucket. Mix with the power drill mixing paddle for two minutes. This amount of resurfacer will cover about 60 square feet of concrete surface.
- 5). Apply the mixed resurfacer onto the concrete and spread with flat steel trowel to a thickness of 1/16 inch. Be sure that you apply the resurfacer within 30 minutes of adding the water.
- 6). Mix more resurfacer if needed to cover your entire concrete surface.
- 7). Add texture to the concrete, if you like, by running a moist broom over the surface. Be sure to do this when the concrete is not fully cured but has lost its wet sheen.
