Toe Corn - Enemy of the Feet
A toe corn, for starters, is not edible.
That should be a cause for laughter.
Seriously though, a toe corn is no laughing matter.
It is a hardened area on your toe that is, for the most part, corn-shaped.
It is difficult to ignore when you have it because it is often painful and uncomfortable.
A toe corn is developed when skin cells duplicate in rapid succession due to repeated skin abrasion.
For many women, this is a result of putting on high-heeled shoes.
Though fashionable, wearing high heels shoves the toes into an uneasy position and compresses them together, while the feet exert great effort to keep upright.
When you really think about it, those poor, unfortunate toes have no chance of escaping unscathed.
The constant back and forth scraping causes either one of two to form: a blister or a corn.
Once your shoes have blistered your pitiful toes and for some obstinate reason, you still keep wearing them, chances are, a corn will develop.
A scar tissue generated from a blister is thicker than real skin, and oftentimes form the basis for a growth of a corn.
With continuous rubbing, it will develop fully into a toe corn.
Cutting it off yourself in an attempt to take it out it is a bad, bad idea.
Unless you want to invite misery, do not even think of hacking it off yourself! There are means of defeating corn without inflicting further harm on your person.
Simply follow the below rules of engagement: 1.
Smoothen the dead skin by using an abrasive.
Be gentle.
2.
Make sure you do not reach the live skin cells.
Stop before damaging them.
3.
Disinfect all utensils prior to using them 4.
Ensure that all abraders (such as Pedi-eggs) are cleansed and germ-free 5.
Loosen dead skin by applying a topical skin softener 6.
Dip your feet in a basin of hot/warm water.
If not, take a warm shower or bath.
7.
Apply a disinfectant to prevent infection on the affected area.
Follow this counsel and pretty soon, your toe corn would be history.
Good luck!
