How to Lay Urethane on Stained Concrete
- 1). Let the stain dry completely on the concrete floor, then sweep the area thoroughly with a clean broom to ensure there is no debris or dust on it. Even the smallest amount of debris can lead to imperfections in the finish.
- 2). Urethane sealers for concrete are available at home improvement and hardware stores. Look for a quick-drying brand. Apply a coat of urethane sealant to the floor with a smooth, long-handled paint roller. Work in small sections of 3 feet by 3 feet.
- 3). Use a paintbrush to smooth out any bubbles in the urethane before moving on to the next section. Allow the urethane to dry completely according to the manufacturer's recommendation.
- 4). Apply a second coat of urethane to the floors after the first has dried. Continue working in small sections and smoothing out bubbles and imperfections as you go.
- 5). Allow the floor to dry completely for 24 hours before walking on it or moving furniture. The urethane will now protect the stained concrete from scratches and gouges.
