How to Remove the AOL Footer from Emails You Send in AIM Mail, AOL Mail and AOL

When you receive emails from a friend using AIM Mail or AOL, they always end with a message from AOL advertising their services? Using AIM Mail yourself, you now wonder whether your emails could end with similar messages?

Chances are they do. Fortunately, it's easy to find out whether your outgoing emails are graced with AOL advertising footers — and turn them off or on as you please.

Remove the AOL Footer from Emails You Send in AIM Mail, AOL Mail on the Web and AOL


To prevent AOL, AOL Mail and AIM Mail from adding promotional messages to the bottom of emails you send:

  • Visit the AOL Message Footer site.
    • Log in with your AOL screen name and password or AIM Mail address and password if necessary.
  • Make sure Show the message footer at the bottom of each email you send. is not checked.
  • Click Save.
