    Talbots Scholarship Foundation

    • The Talbot's clothing stores helps women returning to school through its Talbots Charitable Foundation and the scholarships it offers. Applicants must live in the U.S. or Canada and have graduated from high school or received their General Equivalency Degree (GED) a minimum of 10-years earlier for eligibility. Applicants must be accepted or enrolled at an accredited two or four-year college or technical or vocational school, with at least two semesters to finish before receiving a degree.

    Adell M. White Scholarship

    • Returning students enrolled at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne may apply for the Adell M. White Scholarship. Preference is given to female students but males are also eligible, and those majoring in teaching and education also receive priority. Applicants must have graduated from high school at least five years previously. Other criteria include financial need, and a grade point average of at least 2.5. The recipient must also "demonstrate in their personality and work a high level of caring for others."

    University of Wisconsin at Madison

    • This school's Division of Continuing Studies offers several scholarships for returning students. The Osher Reentry Scholarship aids students between the ages of 25 to 50 who have been out of school for at least five years, and who have returned to pursue an undergraduate degree. The Alma Baron Second Chance for Women scholarship provides financial aid for women age 45 or older returning to school. The university also offers scholarships specifically for single parents going back to school.

    Jeanette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund

    • Jeanette Rankin, the first women elected to Congress, was a feminist pioneer. The scholarship fund bearing her name offers scholarships to low-income women with U.S. citizenship, age 35 and over returning to school to pursue an associates, bachelors, technical or vocational degree. Eligible candidates supply their estimated income, three letters of reference, volunteer and work history, and an acceptance letter from an accredited institution of higher learning. Applicant must outline goals and how they plan to attain them.
