How to Draw Moose Antlers
- 1). Look closely at pictures of bull moose on the Internet or in nature magazines to understand the shape and texture of the antlers. The concaved antlers of the moose look different from every angle. For the first drawing search for a reference photo of the antlers that was taken straight-on.
- 2). Sharpen your pencil and lightly sketch an outline of the antlers using the chosen reference photo as a guide. Erase and redraw any sections that look off, until you are satisfied with the general form.
- 3). Dull the lead of the pencil by twisting it as you rub back and forth on a scrap piece of paper. The dull pencil gives the antlers a thicker edge and softer look. Give the tips of the antlers the rounded look from the reference photo.
- 4). Retrace the antler outline with the dull pencil and use a finger to lightly smudge the marks inward. Wipe the pencil marks from your finger on a scrap sheet of paper when the smudges begin to get dark.
- 5). Add detail and shadows to the moose antlers by shading them with the dull pencil. Darken the outlines of the forward facing antler tips to make them pop into the foreground.
