How to Make a Ski Waxing Stand
- 1). Place your ski binding down over two sawhorses, with one sawhorse near the tip and one near the tail. If you do not have saw horses, you can make a saw horse using two inexpensive sawhorse brackets and five lengths of two-by-four.
- 2). Clamp ski vises onto an ironing board as another option. Ironing boards are good flame-resistant adjustable-height surfaces for ski tuning. Remove the cover from the ironing board before waxing your skis and replace the cover before ironing clothes.
- 3). Attach ski vises or holders to the edge of a six-foot-long picnic table or folding table as an alternative.
- 4). Use any fixed workbench to which you can clamp or attach ski holders or vices. If you do not have a workbench, you can build a narrow one against the wall of a garage using a six foot length of 1-inch-by-12-inch dimensional lumber and legs cut from 2-by-4s. Bench kits are available at home-improvement stores as well.
- 5). Buy a portable ski tuning table from an outdoor-sports retailer.
