How to Make a Record Album Jewelry Holder
- 1). Decide which side of your record album will be the front of your jewelry holder. Take that side and put it face down on a piece of newspaper. You will be making holes in the top 2/3 of the record album only.
- 2). Take the lighter and burn against the plastic of the record album. When the plastic begins to get tacky, stick the nail into the plastic. Hammer a hole through the record with the nail.
- 3). Decide if you would like your jewelry holder to hold earrings, necklaces, bracelets or all three. To hold earrings, pull the nail out of the record as soon as it is hammered through. Use the lighter to smooth the hole on the front and back of the record. Make two holes close together and hang earrings through the holes.
- 4). Make another hole with the lighter, nail and hammer. If you would like your jewelry holder to hold necklaces or bracelets, hammer the nail all the way through as in Step 2. Instead of removing the nail, apply a bit of hot glue to the flat end of the nail, and affix to the back of the record album. The pointed side of the nail should be sticking out of the front of the jewelry holder. Hang necklaces or bracelets on the nail.
- 5). Continue customizing your record album to hold the type of jewelry you own. When you're finished making holes, you can paint the nails any color you'd like, or leave them silver. Let the record album cool.
- 6). Make a base for the record album jewelry holder. Put the record album face up and run the lighter along the bottom third of the record album. Continue to run the lighter back and forth in a line across the bottom third of the album. When the plastic of the record begins to melt, bend the bottom third of the album backwards. When it has cooled, the bottom of the record album should be bent in a 90-degree angle, serving as a base for the jewelry holder.
