How to Increase Bass in a WAV Editor

    • 1). Use the equalizer effect in Audacity to increase the bass in a WAV file. Open the WAV in Audacity, then double-click the waveform to select the entire sound. Open the "Effect" menu, then click "Equalization." Click the "Graphic EQ" radio button, then drag the sliders on the left-hand side of the equalization control upward to increase the bass. To quickly increase the bass frequencies, select "Bass Boost" from the "Select Curve" preset menu.

    • 2). Increase the bass in a WAV file using Adobe Audition's multiband compressor. Open the file in which you want to increase the bass, then open Audition's "Effects" menu. Hover the mouse over "Amplitude and Compression," then click "Multiband Compressor." Click the "Effect Preset" menu and select "Enhance Lows." Drag the sliders in "Band 1" and "Band 2" downward to increase the bass frequencies; raise the "Gain" controls on the band to add volume to the bass.

    • 3). Enhance the bass frequencies in a WAV file using GoldWave. Load the audio file into GoldWave, then open the "Effect" menu. Hover the mouse over "Filter" and select "Parametric EQ" from the menu that opens. Click the "Presets" drop-down menu and select "Bass Boost." Drag the "Gain (dB)" slider to the right to increase the volume of the bass frequencies. Use the "Width" slider to broaden or narrow the range of frequencies that GoldWave increases.
