How to Troubleshoot a Saeco
- 1). Check the power switch and the outlet that the machine is plugged into. Make sure the service door is securely shut as Saeco machines will not work if it is open.
- 2). Unplug the machine and unscrew the two fastening screws that hold the coffee container. Pull up on the lever used for adjustment and then turn the grinding adjustment until you see the two blue lines match up, then pull the grinding adjustment ring off. Vacuum out the inside area that houses the gear box and grind ring support. Reassemble the machine.
- 3). Poke a thin needle into the spout holes that steam and release hot water. If the hole is clogged, the unit will not work.
- 4). Move the grinder up or down depending on personal preference. If the coffee is coming out too fast, you can make the grinder lower. Adjust it higher if the coffee is coming out too slowly.
- 5). Descale your Saeco espresso machine. Purchase a descaling solution. Following the manufacturer's instructions for the descaler, mix the solution with water. Pour the completed mixture into the water tank and choose descaling mode on the machine. It typically takes about 45 minutes to complete the cycle. Pour clean water through the tank and allow it to rinse out.
