How to Make a MS-DOS Boot Disk for Windows XP
- 1). Insert a blank floppy disk--or a disk containing data you do not need--into the floppy drive. Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of the screen, then click "My Computer" or simply double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop.
- 2). Right-click the floppy drive icon and click "Format."
- 3). Click the "Quick Format" check box if desired. If this box is left unchecked, the format operation will take longer. However, Windows scans the disk for bad sectors during a long format process, and does not do so during a quick format.
- 4). Click the "Create an MS-DOS Startup Disk" check box.
- 5). Click "Start," then click "OK."
- 6). Click "OK" again when the process is complete. The Windows XP boot disk for FAT32 drives is ready to use.
