How to Lubricate Antique Transits

    • 1). Remove any dust or debris from the antique transit with a clean handkerchief. Never use water, oils or any cleaning compound to clean antique transits.

    • 2). Apply watch oil to the joint of a moving part of the antique transit. If the antique transit is used primarily in a very cold climate, use graphite lubricant.

    • 3). Wipe away any excess lubricant with a clean handkerchief.

    • 4). Move the oiled part through its full range of motion. If the part sticks at any point, reapply lubricant to that section and try moving the part through its full range of motion again.

    • 5). Wipe away any excess lubricant from the moving parts of the antique transit with a clean handkerchief.
