Inclusions

Definition: Inclusions (noun) are any particles or bubbles that are trapped in suspension within a fired glaze. Inclusions will effect glaze appearance, and may be desired or may be a glaze fault, depending on the effect and expectations of the potter.

Many opaque glazes gain their opacity from inclusions in the glaze.

Examples: Underfired glazes are often cloudy due to inclusions of unmelted glaze materials.
