The time of breaking up when just getting out of a long relationship can be an extremely difficult time.
There are these little emotions that will float around in your thoughts that will make it even difficult to just simply think.

Do not crowd your ex when trying to get back with them.
This is probably the worst thing you could do.

You risk getting back with your ex if you do not take this time to calm down.

You were not always with them, so now is the time to remember what those happy times were like.
If the happiness you once had was brought on by hanging out with friends or maybe possibly playing a sport, then you should be doing these things again now.
Recreate those times of interest when you ex first met you.
How to get back an ex will greatly depend on you moving on and getting back to enjoying yourself.
Your ex will see you doing this and will immediately wonder how this is possible, which will then have him coming around to figure this out.
Only after the above period has occurred should you contact your ex.
Let them in on the fact that you would like to sit down with them and casually talk.
Tell them you have done some thinking on how the relationship went down and would love to hear what they have to say on the matter as well.
Do not apologize or take the blame for anything, but just show them that you are interested in hearing each other out.
Let yourself be seen as responsible enough to take a portion of that contributor to the reason of the breakup but without taking the blame.
