How to Make a Book on CD
- 1). Purchase or download an audio software program. It is highly recommended a program compatible with the MP3 format, since this is the most common format for distribution. It also takes up less space than other uncompressed audio formats.
- 2). Open the audio software program of choice on your computer that will be used for the recording. Click on “File” and then “New” to begin a new project.
- 3). Record your book on to a CD in a quiet location. Read clearly and concisely when recording.
- 4). Save the CD book file as an MP3 file. Most audio recording software programs will present this option upon saving it.
- 5). Burn the file to a CD. Use Windows Media Player if you're a PC user and Burn OS-X if you're a Mac user. Both programs are free and come with the operating systems.
- 6). Make a CD cover label using the CD label software. Open a new file by clicking “File” and “Open” to select an image for the CD. Click directly on the chosen image to insert it. Decorate it with colored backgrounds and text. Repeat these steps for the CD cover as well.
- 7). Print the CD cover and CD label. The CD label should be printed on sticky CD labels, while the cover should be on regular printer paper. Peel the CD labels off and attach them to the front of the CD. Insert the CD cover itself into a CD jewel case.
- 8). Distribute the CD audio book to friends and family.
