If your pet has fleas you may find yourself with more work to do than just having to give Fido a flea bath.  Fleas can quickly infest your home and multiply.

Here in Florida fleas have the perfect environment to quickly reproduce. Optimum conditions for flea reproduction are between 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit and about 70% humidity. That sounds familiar. That sounds just like Florida. So if your pet has a flea problem, it is likely to spread to your home.

Excessive scratching, red, dry patches on the skin and "flea dirt", which is actually dried blood left by fleas, are sure signs that fleas have moved in on your pet. If you suspect your pet has fleas, you will want to act quickly to cure the problem before it gets out of hand.

And if you decide to take an infested Fido or Mittens for a ride to the vet in your car, you just might find that you now have another problem. Fleas biting your ankles while you are driving.

Your car is a small, enclosed area where you are running the air conditioning at least ten months of the year in Florida. For this reason, you may want to turn to more natural products to rid your car of those pesky parasites.

The first thing you can use is a combination of Boric acid and a natural product called Eco smart Exempt Dust. This dust is so safe that it is actually exempt from EPA regulations.

Begin by dusting all areas of the car. Be sure to reach under floor mats and in all cracks and crevices along the floor and seats of the car. This will mostly target the eggs and larvae.

Next you will want to target the adult fleas with a product called Precor. This is an adulticide aerosol spray. Spray all areas of the inside of your car, again reaching all the cracks and crevices and hidden areas.

After thirty minutes, open the car doors to let it air out.

You may get a new hatching of fleas within 7-10 days. If this happens, simply repeat the second step by again thoroughly spraying the inside of the car and then letting it air out.

Once these steps have been completed your car should be safely flea free.
