    Sing It

    • Setting your speech to song is bound to have guests laughing. The worse your voice is, the better. Writing a song also shows your friends that you put plenty of effort into your speech. Writing an original melody will be difficult unless you have musical experience, so set your song to the tune of a song the couple loves. Tell the story of how they met or write a traditional speech about how much you love them and sing it in time with the music. A rap will also be a funny option.

    Include Others

    • Inviting multiple people to participate in your speech gives more guests the chance to participate. Once you’ve written your speech, assign various lines to other friends. Invite them to pop out of their seats and yell out their lines when the time comes. Guests will never know who’s about to jump up and speak. Acting out a skit will also have guests howling. Act out the first time the couple met using other friends as actors while you narrate the scene and add humorous observations.

    Add Quotes

    • Reading quotes from others takes the pressure off of you. It's ideal, to, if you don’t have confidence in your writing skills. Explain to guests that you decided to look to experts for wisdom about marriage, then read a variety of quotes from comedians, songs and philosophers. Search online for quotes such as “There is so little difference between husbands you might as well keep the first,” by author Adela Rogers St. Johns or “My wife says I never listen to her. At least I think that's what she said,” by an unknown author.

    Tell a Story

    • Telling humorous anecdotes about your friend should be easy for you to do, and it helps guests get to know her better. Don’t tell a story that is purely about her; telling anecdotes about funny or embarrassing things you did together makes it seem like you’re poking fun at yourself rather than at her. Tell the story of the first time you met, the terrible matching outfits you wore together in middle school or the misadventures you had while travelling in Europe. When you finish the story, end the speech with a few sweet sentences about how you value her friendship.
