How to Transfer Music to a Kindle

    • 1). Plug the smaller end of the USB cord into the USB slot on the bottom of the Kindle device. Plug the larger end of the USB cord into a USB port on your computer.

    • 2). Click "Start," then "Computer." Click the Kindle icon, which appears under "Devices With Removable Storage."

    • 3). Click the "Music" folder. A list of already transferred Kindle music appears in the window.

    • 4). Click "Start," followed by "Music" to open the music library on your computer. Right-click on an MP3 that you want to transfer to the Kindle. Click "Send To" to bring up a menu of destinations for the file.

    • 5). Click "Kindle" to send the music file to the Kindle. The transfer begins immediately; a pop-up window indicates the transfer's progress and when it is complete.

    • 6). Click the red "X" on both the music library and Kindle music windows. Detach the USB cord from the Kindle device, then from your computer.
