How to Compare Email Lists

    • 1). Find out the frequency at which the email list is published. Depending on the creator of the list and the general topic, certain email lists may send you a new message once a week or even once a day. Other lists will send new messages less frequency, like every other week or even once a month.

    • 2). Find out if the list allows readers to reply and hold a discussion or if it is simply an electronic newsletter. Certain email lists allow users to respond to one another and have discussions about the topics in the list via email. While this may be nice for smaller lists, if an email list is large with several hundred readers, this could fill your email inbox on a regular basis.

    • 3). Compare how specific an email list is with a given topic. For example, certain email lists may be a general "Movies" list that talks about motion pictures in general. Another list may be more specific and will contain information about a specific genre, like action movies or dramas. Others may be even more specific and only feature information about a particular series of films, like the "James Bond" films or the "Harry Potter" films.
