The Best Skateboard Tricks

    The Nose Manual

    • The nose manual

The Nose Manual is a variant of the Standard Manual. The only difference is that instead of riding on the back two wheels of your skateboard, you'll be riding on the front two wheels. It's an easy trick to master that will really add some variety to your trick repertoire.

First, push off with your kick foot and give yourself some speed. You're going to need it just as you need it with the standard manual. Now, place your front foot on the nose and keep your back foot before your back bolts. When you start to come up, don't lean too far forward. Err on the conservative side. You'll lean with very little effort. Bend your back knee to avoid falling. Use your arms like a tight rope walker to keep balance.

    The Frontside 180

    • The Frontside 180 is easy but a very impressive trick to beginner and intermediate skaters alike. It is, in essence, an Ollie that turns your board around 180 degrees.

Like the Nose Manual, you'll need some speed for the Frontside 180. Put your feet in an Ollie position (that is, the ball of back foot on the tail and your front foot just above the middle of the board). Pop an Ollie just like normal and as your front foot slides forward to kick the board up in an Ollie, turn your waist to your front side. You have to turn your body fast or the trick won't work. Land straight on your board. If your board is more than a few degrees off of 180 degrees, the wheels will stick and you'll go flying. Use the bolts as a guide of where to keep your feet as you land. Most of all, be confident. Going fast requires quick action and you can't waste precious seconds losing speed.

    The Impossible

    • The Impossible will look impossible to friends and bystanders

Contrary to its name, the Impossible is not, in fact, impossible. However, it should only be tried after you have mastered spins, kicks and Ollies. In essence, you'll be kicking the board in the air, coming off the board with your feet, rotating the board 360 degrees and then coming down on the board then able to skate away.

As you build up a little bit of speed, set up your stance as if you're going to do a kickflip. Have your heel hanging off the edge. The back foot goes on the tail with the toes on the deck's edge. Push the tail and temporarily move your front foot out of the way as you kick your back lower leg outward away from the board. Don't pop it like an Ollie. It needs to be smoother. The board should rotate around your back foot in your stance. Get your legs up in the air to allow both the board to clear your front leg as well as allow your back foot to scoop the board around.
