How to Have Endless Energy - Even When You Can"t Get a Full 8 Hours
Q: My husband and I recently started a new business venture that we couldn't be more excited about, only problem is that I'm finding it tough to take care of my family, and hang out with my girlfriends. The crazy thing is that I have 4 children ranging from 7-16, who constantly need my attention for help with homework, friends, sports etc. I've been losing about 2 hours of sleep every night... so how can I have the energy to do all my tasks and still win the "mom of the year" award? Thanks!

A: I want to start off by first saying congratulations to you for embarking on your journey to start a business!
But I promise that you're in good hands, and your loss of sleep won't hold you back from being supermom any longer. So let me point out three key helpful tips that you can start using in the morning, to have the energy you did in high school. This way you can keep up with your 16 year old
That first hour when you wake up has the biggest impact on how your day will flow. So a huge piece of advice is to set a routine of good morning rituals that make you feel good! This is crucial to do, because so many parents roll out of bed and let their tired, groggy attitude stay with them throughout the whole day.
Don't hold yourself back like that Gracie, so I want you to get a pen and paper for this fun exercise.
#1 - First, start by writing out what your ideal breakfast would be. It's important to remember that you want to keep it organic, while taking a top of the line multivitamin with it. Let it be something that makes your mouth water just thinking about. (This tip alone will do wonders for you)
#2 - Next I want you to keep your laptop or phone near you for when you wake up. This is where things get fun. Set an alarm on your phone 5 minutes before the desired time you wake up, and I want you to play your favorite artist/band to get your blood flowing. If you don't want your spouse or kids to hear you jamming out, I recommend using a pair of headphones. (You can get a cheap pair for under $5)
#3 - The final successful morning habit that must become second nature is appreciation for yourself. This may be one of the most overlooked rituals, yet several of my clients applied this one tip, which resulted in a complete 360 with their energy levels.
The way to get the full effect of this ritual only requires a positive attitude, and a reflection. After you've heard your favorite song, go to a place where you can talk to yourself and see your full body in a mirror. (preferably somewhere that no one can hear you, don't want the kids or husband thinking moms lost it)
See the goal is not to just say "I have nice eyes" or "My hair is glowing this morning" or even "My thighs look slim"... What really works is telling yourself what you truly love about yourself.
For example, every morning I look at myself and say "Wow Aaron, your teeth are extra pearly white today! Whatever you're doing is clearly working, keep it up a lot of people will notice that gorgeous smile!"
See the difference there? I know it might sound silly saying that to yourself but its basic physiology. Thoughts control things, so by you using quality and positive words to describe yourself it will give you a natural boost that even coffee can't match up to.
Try those tips out and I encourage you to let me know your results with these quick fixes! Best of luck "supermom"!
