Wire Swirl Earrings

I normally like to make these using sterling silver wire, but silver is tough to photograph, so I used copper wire for demonstrations purposes; however, you could really any kind of wire: copper, silver, gold, brass, or even colored wire. You could also mix different kinds of wire. For example, you could use sterling ear hooks but make the wire swirl components out of copper wire. It is really up to you and your person preferences.

As far as the size of wire you need to use, for this tutorial I used 21-gauge round copper wire. Again, though, you could us many different sizes. Probably anywhere from as thin as 22-gauge wire to as thick as 18-gauge wire would work well.

This is a beginning level project, so it is a great introduction to working with wire. Or for those who just like quick projects, you will also find these earrings fun and easy to make.

To make these Wire Swirl Earrings, you will need the following tools and supplies:

One pair of prefabricated earring wires or make your own
6 inches of your choice of wire
Wire cutters
Chain-nosed pliers
Round-nosed pliers
Nylon-nosed pliers
Jeweler's file
