Ten handy tips for Interior Design
- PAINT – When Painting walls always remember that the colour you choose may become darker as walls reflect on one another. Whereas carpets become lighter.
- MIRRORS – If you have a dark room a large Mirror on a wall that adjoins the window wall will reflect your window giving you extra light. Where possible a piece of furniture that you can stand a lamp on in front of the mirror would also not only look attractive but would double the light impact.
- CONTRIVED – A big mistake a lot of people make is to make their rooms look too contrived. A room will always look far more interesting if you use co-ordinating fabrics and items that complement the room rather than match it. WOW FACTOR – A room can look great all one colour with just a tiny splash of a second colour, giving your room a wow factor. Don't over do the contrasting colour as this will spoil the effect.
- AM & PM – Always look at your fabrics in daylight as well as artificial light.
- FURNITURE – Check thoroughly that the measurements of the furniture fit in your room. Furniture always tends to look smaller in a large showroom.
- FABRIC SAMPLES – Carry your samples (which we will send to you), in your handbag when shopping for your home.
- GARDEN – If you have a French window leading out onto your garden, it is a good idea to follow colours, themes through. ie If you have an Italian garden a bust in the room to go with the garden. It can be Mediteranean Chinese African. Also a large plant by the window will definately bring your garden into the room, making it look bigger.
- FAVOURITES – It is a good idea to collect pictures of things you like, for example – Lamps, Mirrors, Ornaments, Curtains etc. This will not only help us. It will help you to know what sort of things you like. It is a mistake to get to many people involved. I will guide you away from making any errors.
- CORRECT FABRIC – Always check that the fabric is suitable for what you are using it for.
