How to Safely Charge a Rayovac
- 1). Inspect the batteries that you intend to charge to ensure they are the rechargeable variety. A Rayovac rechargeable battery will be marked as such on the body of the battery and on the package. If the battery does not say rechargeable on it, do not place it into the charger under any circumstances as you could cause the battery to explode.
- 2). Separate the batteries you want to charge into groups of AA and AAA. There are four compartments for batteries in the charger, but the batteries must be charged in pairs. Place your batteries inside the compartments with the positive side on top. If you are charging two AA and two AAA batteries, place one pair on one side of the charger and one pair on the other. Do not place two different size batteries on the same side of the charger.
- 3). Plug the battery charger into an open wall outlet once the batteries are secured in their compartments. Do not plug the charger into the wall before you insert the batteries. If you remove or add a battery to the charger while it is plugged in your could cause damage to the battery or the charger.
- 4). Wait for the LED lights above each side of the charger to illuminate, indicating the batteries were inserted properly and are charging. If this does not happen, unplug the charger and ensure the batteries are inserted properly. The LED lights will turn off once each pair of batteries is charged. Do not remove them until this happens. Charging can take anywhere between three and five hours depending on the size and model of the batteries.
