Part of New York state, Long Island is exactly what it sounds like: a long island. The western end includes New York City's buroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, though culturally those areas are not generally considered part of Long Island. As of April 2010, the rest of the island is home to just two law schools, but the number grows if the ones in Brooklyn and Queens are counted. - Hofstra Law School is best known for its faculty's expertise in litigation, international law and family law. Its clinical program is noteworthy, offering clinics in law reform advocacy, asylum, community and economic development, mediation and securities arbitration, criminal justice, and child advocacy. It also offers a civil, judicial and criminal externship program and a variety of student organizations and journals. Its library has 534,000 volumes.
