- 1). Prepare your nails with a base coat. Base coats help the polish last longer and chip less.
- 2). Apply your base color. Most traditional French manicures use a sheer beige or pink, but feel free to get your nails noticed with a black and white manicure. Wait for the base color to dry and apply a second coat.
- 3). Apply the French manicure stencil sticker just under the white part of your nail. Use the center of the stencil to create the half-moon shape.
- 4). Brush the nail polish pen over the tip of your fingernail, above the stencil. Do this for each nail and wait a few minutes to dry.
- 5). Grasp the end of the stencil and slowly peel it away from your nail, using a slight upward movement. If the white pen is totally dry on your nail, you will have a perfect shape. Polish that looks uneven or clumpy was not finished drying.
- 6). Apply a top coat to protect your manicure and add shine.
