    • 1). Chooses between a block style or a rounded fat style of graffiti numbering, then do an outline sketch of each of the numbers you want to draw. The outline sketch should be done in a dark color that will show up as you begin to add your layers of color.

    • 2). Add a few dark lines to the face of your numbers to give them a texture. The lines should be dark enough to show through the color once it's added. Make the lines short and place them on the face of your numbers intermittently to create wrinkle lines or roll lines to your numbers. If you want your numbers to have an aged effect, draw random jagged lines to bring out the appearance of decay. Thicken these lines as needed so the effect shows through the coloring process.

    • 3). Add color to your numbers. Get creative with them. Consider using brighter colors and combining various shades of the same colors to bring out a shaded surface with texture. Use your finger to blend the colors. When coloring, use a diagonal motion and vary the pressure of your pencils to help create gradation.

    • 4). Go over your number outlines to thicken them. Add the thickness to the the left side and inner bottom of the numbers to create a 3-D effect.
