The first waterless shampoo are the conventional dry shampoos.
The other type of shampoo is a new type of shampoo that is water based it sounds like a bit of an oxymoron but a liquid dry shampoo that requires no water.
This idea was fantastic for camping, festival events, elderly and infirm, backpackers and the list goes on.
So lets start off with dry shampoos.
Dry shampoo works on the principle that you spray them into your hair, they usually come in the form of a powder.
The idea then is that this powder, absorbs any dirt oils and grease lift them up away from the scalp.
Then you simply comb them through, which in turn removes the contaminated powder leaving your hair nice and clean.
The advantages of these powders being it saves time.
You need no water whatsoever.
By simply purchasing a dry shampoo product you don't have to pay for water, heating, etc and so it comes across as rather cost effective.
Finally another pro of using dry shampoos is the range of smells they come in.
On the other hand there are some disadvantages to dry shampoos.
One of them being you don't always get the product out leaving a powdery residue left over in your hair which doesn't always look great.
The powder is usually white and so fairly visible, if not in your hair then on your clothes and skin.
So lets look at liquid based waterless shampoos.
These are water based and are also very simple to use.
You simply pour the solution directly to you hair massage them up into a lather.
This lather lifts up any dirt and grease, finish that off by removing that lather away with a towel.
The towel removes any dirt and grease and what's left is nothing but the remaining water and soft clean hair.
The advantages of these products are of course they require no water at all.
They leave no sticky residue unlike the dry shampoos.
Again following the same principle they are more cost and time effective.
They also come in a range of dry waterless conditioners and body washes.
As always on the other hand there are the disadvantages the main one being your hair is left wet this is fine for most but if you need to use straighteners they it can be an issue.
These products don't come in a range of different fragrances however smell quite pleasant standard.
There are few liquid based waterless shampoos available on the market one of the major ones is NoRinse shampoos.
So in conclusion the dry shampoos are great if you don't like to get your hair wet however the liquid one prove much more effective.
None of theses products are going to be like a hot shower and herbal essences but they are the closest to them.
