How to Add a Fastener to a Cord Necklace

    • 1). Slide a crimp clasp onto one end of the necklace. Be sure to align it so the clasp mechanism is pointing away from the necklace.

    • 2). Squeeze the tube portion of the crimp clasp gently between the jaws of the chain-nose pliers. Tug gently on the cord to ensure the clasp is tightly secured. If not, squeeze the clasp tube again until the cord no longer slips.

    • 3). Hold the necklace cord around your neck or a friend's neck to determine if the necklace cord needs to be shorter before attaching the final clasp piece. If necessary, cut off some of the cord using your scissors.

    • 4). Place the partnering crimp clasp piece on the open end of the necklace cord, again ensuring the clasp mechanism is pointing away from the necklace. Crimp the tube as you did in Step 2. Be sure to tug the necklace to make sure the clasp is securely fastened. Trim any excess cord with scissors.
