This is my review of the excellent book: The Ardennes On Fire. It is a World War Two thriller about the phenomenal military campaign known to history as: The Battle Of The Bulge. It is available through any online retailer from Amazon.com, and Barnes&Noble.com to Xlibris.com

On November 30 1978, the late, great, legendary and immortal Seattle Slew retired from the sport of thoroughbred horse racing. Although his racing days were over, his life of greatness was about to soar to a whole new level of stupendous achievement. That's because as a stallion, the mighty Slew would set records that awed the world, and left all the rest in the dust.

Third Reich possessed was relentlessly hurled at United States' positions. This massive barrage was the opening salvo in what would become the single largest, longest, most grueling and bloodiest campaign ever fought in the history of the United States' Army; a campaign called: The Battle Of The Bulge.

Up until that point in time, the Soviets had dominated the sport of international hockey in every way, manner, shape, and form possible. Ever since 1954, with only slight interruption, they had spent their mornings, afternoons, and evenings systematically demolishing whomever they went up against. The Soviets had won Gold Medals in the Winter Olympics of 1956, 1964, 1968, 1972, and 1976; and were rarely challenged in any of them.

The reader will understand just how the German Army was able to right itself during the Fall of 1944 after suffering 466,000 casualties during the summer of 1944, and then secretly mass nearly 300,000 men, 970 tanks and armored assault guns, and 1,900 artillery pieces and mortars just opposite a supposedly quiet sector of the Western Front.

In a three game series that took the place of the traditional NHL All_star Game, the Soviet demolished the NHLer's so thoroughly that it is still referred to as, "The Embarrassment" to this very day. From 1954 through 1992, the great Soviet Hockey Dynasty would win 21 World Championships, 8 Olympic Gold Medals, 1 Olympic Silver Medal, and 1 Olympic Bronze Medal. Without question, they were the single greatest hockey dynasty in all of recorded history.

The Battle Of The Bulge was one of the most famous and brutal campaigns in the history of warfare. The Ardennes On Fire captures every thrilling aspect of it! This is a must read for any military enthusiast, and World War Two buff.
