How to Plant a special Bonsai Tree using simple steps
- 1). Purchase the plant or shrub that you want to use for your bonsai. Talk to an associate at your home and garden store to find a type of plant that will work for your bonsai tree. Some examples of possible bonsai plants are a jade tree, wisteria, ficus or juniper. Buy high-quality soil for your bonsai and a tray or pot.
- 2). Trim the excess roots from your plant carefully with scissors. Use a water bottle to keep the roots wet while trimming them.
- 3). Wrap bonsai wire around the roots of your plant. You do not want to cover the roots completely, but you need to contain the roots so that the tree stays small.
- 4). Place fresh soil in a pot with drainage holes. Carefully, put your bonsai in your pot. Use chopsticks to poke the roots down and push soil underneath the roots.
- 5). Water your bonsai tree two to three times a day for the first couple of weeks. Put your bonsai outside but not in direct sunlight.
