How eager the parents are to hear their child utter the first few syllables! They wait for the day when their child will hold long conversations with them! A chick picks up the art of speaking from the parents themselves. Parents connect to their child through physical contact, speech, gestures of love and the written word.

Of course, it would take some time for a child to learn reading and writing. This is the skill that will take a huge role in their development. You can't overstress the importance of role in their lives.

Parents need to encourage children to read books from the time that they start splashing with crayons in a color book. Gradually, the books will become a part and parcel of the kids' engagement with the environment. Undeveloped mind of a child is able to develop diverse skills through books, right from the recognition of birds and animals in a picture book to improving mathematical skills.

Books can be compared to individuals that a child meets in life, each with a distinct story conveying its own wisdom. Each story will express a new thing and enrich the soul. Along with the text books in school curriculums, you should also encourage the children to develop interest in an array of choices in picture books, non-fiction books, fiction books and encyclopedias.

When a child develops a reading habit in childhood, it is rarely given up later in life. The kinds of books one is interested in may change over time, but the passion for books will be there. Books are an amazing guide for a child to imagine, learn and understand new things. When they read children, fairies, goblins and giants become much more believable. Kings and queens appear grand and even Harry Potter seems to be one of their friends!

There have always been excellent books available in children's publishing. J. K. Rowling's work has set a benchmark for how children's fiction should be. The whole world knows about the kind of money and work Rowling gathered from her work. If an author knows how to write well the children's books, they will be able to connect to the readers. Publishers today not just tap the educational aspect of children's writing, but also look into the business aspect.

There is no formula to assure success of these books. A good piece of writing always makes an impression on the reader. When it comes to children's writing, the author needs to write the kind of prose that is genuine. Reputable publishers are prudent about the works they choose to publish.

Various publishers will put in different manuscript evaluation metrics when judging a children's book. Usually publishers will put in metrics like publisher's requirements, market viability, writer credentials, script quality and scope for scaling. Objective behind evaluation is minimization of risk as there can be no set rules for success in a business of book publishing.
