Voice Recognition Software - Write As Fast As You Talk

103 18
If there's one thing that will slow down any modern writer, it's typing speed.
The solution? Voice recognition software.
There are many reasons why people don't type as fast as they would want to:
  • Lack of instruction
  • Lack of practice
  • Fumble fingered
  • No inpiration/motivation
  • See it as a skill not suited for them.
Lack of instruction - The simple fact of the matter is, that in most cases, people simply do not know how to type.
Luckily there are dozens of free typing courses on the internet.
Google it and away you go.
Lack of practice - You're not going to be able to hit 40 wpm (words per minute) straight off the belt.
You'll need practice, and plenty of it.
The good news is that it can be enjoyable.
Start your own blog, even if it's just about something small that you like.
Update it daily and you'll find that your interest in getting words onto a screen grows.
Fumble fingered - Some people, no matter how much they try will still be a two-fingered typist.
That's OK.
Voice recognition software was made with that in mind.
No inspiration or motivation - What's the point in typing fast? Where is it going to get me? That's fair enough, if you don't need to type fast or you can't raise any 'oomph' to do so, there's a software package for your needs.
Some people are just scared of computers and don't want to learn, maybe seeing themselves as too old to learn.
While that's simply not true, it's a personal choice.
Not suited - This may sound odd, but it's real.
Some people believe that typing is the province of women and it's not a skill that a man should have.
Often when I'm typing and talking at work, people look at me as though I'm possessed.
Sometimes a man who can type well is looked at sideways.
Well, voice recognition software also recognises deep, manly voices.
Now, no matter our skill level, motivation level and personal viewpoints, most of us still won't be able to type as fast as we talk.
Voice recognition software can increase our text input speed gigantically.
120 words per minute is the average talking speed, some of us more but we need to be realistic.
That's a heck of a lot more than most people can type, obviously there are some extreme exceptions.
Just think how that will be able to increase your efficiency with that sort of speed.
