Sleep deprivation is fast becoming a major health problem for people throughout the world.
When a person does not receive adequate sleep the body begins to have various kinds of health problems such as aching muscles, blurred vision, Cardiovascular disease, clinical depression, colorblindness; daytime drowsiness, decreased mental activity and concentration, weakened immune system, dizziness, headache, hyperactivity, hypertension, irritability, memory lapses or loss, psychosis, slowed reaction time, weight loss or gain, early stages of diabetes, can adversely affect brain function, suppress growth hormones, and impairment of abilities such as ones seen in drunk drivers.
These are only a few of the problems associated with individuals that are lacking sleep.
Our bodies need so much sleep in order to perform our daily tasks, however, not every individual requires the same amount of sleep.
Knowing how much sleep you need depends on various factors.
Teenagers need more sleep than younger children and adults.
Older adults may not need as much as middle aged adults.
On the other hand, you should be able to recognize symptoms that are sliding toward sleep deprivation and get a handle on your sleeping schedule before you begin to notice major health problems.
The best way to ensure that you receive enough sleep is to follow this schedule: Create a bedtime routine.
You need to have a certain time to go to bed every night and a certain time to awake in the morning.
You must stay on this schedule.
This means you should not sleep in or take a nap during the day.
This can change your internal clock.
Avoid exercising or cleaning two hours prior to your scheduled bedtime.
All this does is stimulate your body and then it will be harder to drift off to sleep.

Horrors or other movies that tend to cause you to be worked up are no-no's.
Coffee and caffeinated drinks are also no-no's along with alcohol.
Some people believe an alcoholic drink before bed will help them fall asleep.

Large before bedtime should be stopped as well.
High protein foods or foods with large contents of fat and sugar are sure ways to stay awake at night.

This may be harder than it sounds.
However, this one can be added to the last step which is creating a bedroom for sleep.
Clearing your mind and creating a bedroom for sleep can be done rather easily.
Use calming lights, water fountains, and white noise machines.
All of these items will provide you with ways in which to clear your mind while creating the perfect room for sleep.
Watching and listen to a soothing tabletop water fountain will help you clear your mind while the soft lights will have a calming effect.
A can also help in preparing your mind and body for a restful nights sleep as it simulates the setting sun, which help your body wind down.
