A good place to get started is to visit the Google ad words keyword tool.
Type in some general keywords of your choice and then use the tool to drill down to more specific keywords.
You need to find a long tail keyword which gets at least 100 searches per day, which has a low amount of competing pages, which gets a high pay per click rate and which you can easily reach the first pages of the search engines with.
What is more, you need to be able to register a domain name which is an exact match of this keyword phrase.
This process is not easy and you must be willing to dedicate a sufficient amount of time into keyword and domain name research.
It may take you one or more day to find a really good keyword and domain name.
If you do find a good one though, it will be well worth it.
Make sure that the keyword phrase gets sufficient interest from people searching for this phrase.
Ideally, there should be at least 3600 exact match local searches per month for the term.
The next thing you need to do is to confirm that there are enough pay per click advertisers in this niche to make your hard work worthwhile.
The more advertisers that there are the better as this will increase the amount of revenue which you receive for each click.
If there are only a few advertisers then you will probably only received a few cents per click.
An easy way to check this is to do a search in Google for your keyword phrase and look at the number of ad words advertisers on the right hand side of the search results page.
Ideally this should be full of advertisers and not just one or two at the top of the page.
This will only give you an idea of the number of advertisers on the Google content network and not the publisher network but it is still a quick and easy way to check.
You then need to check the competition levels for this keyword phrase on the first page of the search engines.
Do not worry if there are 2 million results returned by the search engines for your keyword phrase.
You are not competing with these sites, you are only competing with the results returned on page one, because this is where you want your site to be.
If page one of the search engine results is full of low page rank sites with very few back links then you know that you have found a good keyword and domain name to build a site on.
If page one of the search results is full of high authority websites with a high page rank and thousands of back links then it will be very difficult to rank your site on the first page and you should consider looking for another keyword and domain name.
In conclusion, how to research a niche to find a good keyword and domain name which can be monetised via pay per click advertising is not difficult.
It does take time though, and a little bit of experience.
Now that you have read this article you should be able to set about researching a niche site for yourself.
So put this information to good use and you will soon be earning a regular income from pay per click advertising with your micro niche sites.
