Virtually everyone knows that smoking is bad for you but many people do not know exactly just how bad it is or any of the details that come with it.
There are also a number of other reasons to quit smoking and if you are not convinced by the health issues, then you might be convinced by some of the many other reasons.
Here are some examples of why to quit smoking.
Firstly, the most well known disadvantage of smoking is the dramatically increased risk of lung cancer.
Although there are many people who smoke are never get lung cancer of course, the chance of getting it is much higher if you are a smoker and even higher again if you are a heavy smoker.
Smoking can also cause other ailments such as throat cancer.
Another reason to give up smoking is perhaps just the cost.
A heavy smoker might smoke a packet a day and they certainly does not come cheap.
If you gave up smoking for a year, you could have saved up enough money to go on a holiday across the world.
That is just an example of the colossal price of cigarettes, especially in the Western World.
Another reason why to quit is that in many circumstances it is often unsociable.
There are many people who don't smoke and smoking in their presence is often frowned upon by many people.
This is because smoking often leads to bad breath, bad teeth and general all round unattractiveness.
Also, in various places around the world these days it is illegal to smoke inside and having to go outside every time you want to cigarettes is hardly convenient in many cases, especially in the middle of the winter.
These are just some of the many reasons to give up smoking.
