    • 1). Apply for an EIN, also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, online at the IRS website. It's a free process where you're asked questions. Structure your business as a corporation or LLC as opposed to a partnership or sole proprietorship. This helps prevent your personal credit information from being included in your business credit report. Register your enterprise with the business credit bureaus.

    • 2). Bring your business in compliance with the business credit market requirements. This includes obtaining any required business licenses from your city, county and possibly state in which you're located. Your business will also need a physical address with at least one landline phone.

    • 3). Obtain credit from those companies willing to extend you business credit without a personal credit check or guarantee, using your EIN of course. Make certain you pay promptly and on time and be sure these companies report your good payment histories to the business credit bureaus. You can also take out small business loans and pay them in the same prompt manner to help establish business credit.

    • 4). Monitor your business credit report for any changes that may adversely affect your business credit.
