Is the company you are looking at real? Sounds strange, right? But it is a valid question.
Have you really researched the company? Have you had a chance to go to the corporate headquarters? Have you been able to check out the financial statements for the last several years? This may or may not come as a shock, but a lot of the companies that have great online storefronts are working out of basements.
Now that in and of itself is not necessarily a bad thing.

But those companies usually have something very unique.
They either have a brand new product, or an improvement on an existing product that is so impressive, so desirable that the public will be begging for it.
The uniqueness or desirability of the product does not apply to most start-up companies, and most especially not to network marketing companies.
So make sure that they are solvent and have enough cash to see them through for a while.
Some people can sell anything.
And they often have skin that is thicker than the armor on a tank, so they can also take all sorts of rejection.
But others can sell really well if the product is something that they believe in.
For example, someone volunteering with Greenpeace would probably not do very well selling whaling harpoon guns.
There is an inherent conflict of interest.
But people who are athletic and interested in sports would probably do well with sporting goods, fitness or health products.
They will be passionate and be able to talk convincingly about and sell the products.
Then, how does the business fit with the time you have to spend on it? And how easy have the founders of the company made it for you to succeed? Do they have a good marketing plan and materials that will work with you rather than against you, or does it seam like trying to make any money with them will be like pulling teeth? And if it is an mlm business, the best ones will give people no reason not to join, and will have products that are quality and in demand.
