    • 1). Open Visual Options on the Start Menu and toggle the Hitter's Eye function to "On" prior to your first at bat. This can be done both before and during a game. The Hitter's Eye attaches colored hints to each pitch, giving you a better idea of the final location of the pitch. A red ball signifies a breaking pitch, slider or curve; a green one means change-up; purple means splitter; and white, the heater. Pitch recognition is the first essential aspect to hitting a home run.

    • 2). Select pitches high in the zone. Once you have recognized what type of pitch is coming at you, isolate ones that will finish high in the zone. Low pitches will generally induce grounders and line drives, which will not clear the fence.

    • 3). Push the joystick toward the edge of the strike zone, where the pitch will finish as the ball comes toward you. We are working with high pitches, so this will primarily be to direct your batter to pull or push the ball, depending on if the pitch is on the inner or outer half of the plate: UP-Left, UP-Center, UP-Right.

    • 4). Press the A (swing) button just as the ball reaches you, while holding the joystick in the appropriate position. If you have directed your batter to aim at the proper location within the strike zone you will have a chance at hitting one out.
