    • 1). Measure the height and width of the door opening. Mark a sheet of plywood with a pencil outlining the measurements for the door. Verify all measurements twice. Cut the sheet of plywood with a circular saw.

    • 2). Hold the cut plywood against the opening for the shed. Verify the cuts are accurate. Mark any changes necessary and cut the plywood accordingly with the circular saw.

    • 3). Cut two 1-by 4-inch planks to the width measurement for the door. Hold the beams against the cut plywood to verify the ends of the planks are flush with each side of the plywood. Cut two additional planks to the height measurement minus 8 inches. Cut one final plank to the width measurement minus 8 inches.

    • 4). Spread glue onto one face of each plank and press the planks against the door. One plank needs to be flush with the top edge and each side of the plywood and the other plank should be flush with the bottom edge and sides. Clamp the planks in place.

    • 5). Drive 1-inch screws through the face of the plywood into each plank placing a screw every 8 inches along the plank with a drill and screwdriver drill bit. Remove the clamps.

    • 6). Attach the two height planks with glue and screws to the plywood so that each is flush with a vertical edge of the plywood and adjacent to the inner edges of the top and bottom plank. Attach the final plank centered on the door with the ends touching the sides of the vertical planks to create a figure-eight with the wood planks.

    • 7). Attach straight brackets, which are simple strips of sturdy metal with multiple screw holes, over each joint between the planks. Drive 1-inch screws through each screw hole into the wood planks for added stability.
